AMERDA Introduces The Ultimate Lateral To Mainline Repair Solution

The extraordinary robot from
AMERDA! With the revolutionary, new "Lateral Shoe",
AMERDA has introduced a patented system that directly addresses the problem
of lateral to mainline connection failures . . . a major concern of
municipal and private collection system managers throughout the nation.
Improper or failed lateral connections are a prime source of infiltration in
sewer systems.
AMERDA's unique, cost effective robotic rehabilitation technology puts a solution within reach of any collection system owner . . . a permanent solution!
The AMERDA System utilizes a Lateral Shoe or collar (A) constructed of a flexible plastic shield with an opening that corresponds to both the inside diameter of the host pipe and the lateral diameter. The AMERDA robot prepares the application site by grinding away unwanted material with a diamond impregnated cutter, a process similar to that of a dentist who prepares a tooth for a crown. Once this is completed, the grinding robot is retrieved and replaced by a filling robot that positions the Lateral Shoe precisely against the mainline pipe at the lateral opening. The filling robot then places an inflatable balloon (B) through the opening and creates a sealed, temporary mold at the failed lateral joint connection. With the balloon in place, the filling robot injects a specially formulated AMERDA epoxy (D) from its dispensing magazine (D) into the annular cavity (C). The epoxy is allowed to harden. The Lateral Shoe apparatus is then retrieved by the robot and re-deployed at the next failed lateral connection. The resultant repair returns the integrity of the original installation and / or replaces an improperly installed as-built. The new AMERDA connection completely reseals the lateral to mainline joint, making a structurally sound and permanent repair. When using the new Lateral Shoe, no additional finishing is required. The Lateral Shoe also works very well when used in conjunction with cured in place pipe (CIPP) technology. In controlled field tests, the Lateral Shoe has demonstrated unequalled results in providing a completely watertight connection between lateral lines and mainlines when both are rehabilitated with a CIPP process. The Lateral Shoe works equally well for those laterals that have not been relined but are connected to a CIPP lined mainline. Lateral Shoes are currently available for 8" through 24" pipe.
